About the workshop:
In two days, you will learn about TwoPoints.Net’s approach to developing publications. From idea to proposal, proposal to contract, and contract to fulfillment, you will understand the key stages of the book publishing process—what to consider and what to avoid.
Day 1: Mapping the publishing roadmap
In this session, we shift the perspective from designer-as-service-provider to designer-as-editor. A publisher once told us, “We don’t need more designers, we need more authors.” We give you valuable insights into the publishing roadmap: from initial intuition to professional proposal, legal contracts, contributor management, and final publication.
Day 2: Developing a book proposal
In this hands-on part, you will work on your own book idea. We will focus on building the actual proposal: defining its market niche, developing the concept and creating initial mockups to show the project’s potential. The workshop ends with a group review of the proposals. We will look at each project from an editor’s perspective to determine whether the idea is solid and ready to send out.
Workshops are open to design students, design professionals, and curious creative minds of all ages and experience levels.
Outcome: By the end of this workshop, you’ll walk away with a sharper book idea, a tangible draft proposal, and insider, behind-the-scenes insights into how real-world book publishing actually works.
Required: A laptop, design software like InDesign or Affinity and a love for books and the desire to bring one into the world.
About Elio:
Elio Salichs is the son of a graphic designer. Driven by a desire to take a different path, he initially studied Humanities at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. Two years later, however, he found himself drawn back to graphic design. He graduated in 1999, completed a Master’s in Advanced Typography, and went on to build a ten-year career as an Art and Creative Director across various studios and agencies. In 2010, he decided to forge his own path. He connected with Martin Lorenz and Lupi Asensio, founders of TwoPoints.net. Since then, he has coordinated and executed projects for the TwoPoints Barcelona office. Alongside his professional practice, he has developed a strong teaching profile in editorial design and visual identity, with a particular focus on flexible visual systems. He has taught, lectured, and led workshops at various schools and universities, with international activity in Spain, Italy, France, Germany, and the Dominican Republic.
