About the workshop:
Learn how to bring typography to life on screen, from a single letter to a full phrase, through interactive, code-based design. Over this 2-day workshop, we’ll cover the fundamentals of creative coding with p5.js and explore techniques for animating letters and words, focusing not just on motion but on interaction: how a piece changes when someone touches, moves, or engages with it, and the meaning that interaction can add. We‘ll also look at how to grow a single idea into a larger, cohesive system.
On Day 1, you‘ll learn the basics of programming in p5.js, see examples of interactive typography, and begin brainstorming and building your own concept.
On Day 2, we‘ll develop these sketches into full systems, and everyone will present and interact with each other‘s final pieces.
Outcome: By the end of this workshop, you will be able to write basic interactive typographic sketches using p5.js as well as take a single design concept and expand it into a larger, cohesive system.
Audience: This workshop is for graphic and type designers, as well as other curious and creative people, at all experience levels. No prior coding knowledge is required.

About Lea:
Lea Naisberg is a graphic designer born in New York City and raised between NYC and Buenos Aires. With a background in Computer Science and a self-taught practice in creative coding, she brings a methodical yet exploratory mindset to her work. Her practice often leans playful and unconventional, using code as a tool to push typography and visual systems into unexpected territory. She is the founder of Creative Coding NYC and currently works as a graphic designer at SMLXL in Barcelona.
