Deep Dive Course:
Making Book Ideas A Reality
with Elio Salichs from
TwoPoints.Net
A six-week live course on how to pitch a book idea, sign a contract and get the book done.
New dates TBA.

This course is for designers and creatives who want their book ideas to get published—and to use that publication to advance their careers. You’ll learn how a published book can lead to teaching invitations, international talks, workshops, and high-value client work.
We focus on the real dynamics of the publishing world: how to work with an editor, how to align your vision with a publisher’s business strategy, and how to shape a project that they actually want to back.
You’ll get clear explanations of royalties, percentages, and contracts, using real examples so you understand how money and rights work in practice—and how to protect yourself and your collaborators.
You’ll also learn how to find and approach contributors, manage permissions and rights, and present your project in a way that feels professional and convincing to publishers.
By the end, you won’t just have a strong idea—you’ll know how to navigate the path from idea to publication, and how to make that published book work for your studio and career.
Session 1:
Professional Expansion
How the physical object triggers teaching opportunities, international lectures, workshops, and client commissions.

How to find and contact contributors, when to stop looking for contributors, and the process of the professional follow-up process. Shared production phases with the editor and file organization systems to keep a 200 to 300-page project efficient.
Session 6:
Production
From layout, cover, and validations to choosing paper, finishes, and reviewing final artwork/plotters before printing. Studio-side promotion of the finished object and how it attracts the specific clients you want.

Who will be your teacher?

Elio Salichs is the son of a graphic designer. Driven by a desire to do something different, he initially studied Humanities at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. However, two years later, he found himself studying graphic design. Graduating in 1999, he completed a Master’s in Advanced Typography and built a ten-year career as an Art and Creative Director across various studios and agencies. In 2010, he decided to forge his own path; it was during the Design Werkstatt courses that he connected with Martin Lorenz and Lupi Asensio (founders of TwoPoints.net). Since then, he has coordinated and executed projects for TwoPoints.Net Barcelona’s office. In parallel with his professional practice, he has built a solid teaching profile focused on editorial design and visual identity, with a particular focus on flexible visual systems. He has taught and delivered talks and workshops at different schools and universities, with international activity in Spain, Italy, France, Germany, and the Dominican Republic.
Is this a course for you?
For whom is the course:
It is for designers who want to move from being service providers to becoming authors, using the book as a means for research, learning, and networking. It is not for someone looking for a software tutorial or layout tips; it is for those ready to take responsibility for their own content.
What is required:
You’ll need a layout software like Adobe InDesign or Affinity. … and a love for books. 🙂
What will you learn:
Participants will transform a personal intuition into a solid, complete proposal. We will guide them to identify the ‘missing book’ on the shelves based on their own curiosity and professional knowledge. They will learn how to build a pitch that an editor understands instantly, using our own real-world examples—including the successes, the failures, and the reworks.
The goal is to provide the professional roadmap for the ‘Post-proposal’ phase. Participants will be able to navigate the entire journey after getting a ‘Yes’: from handling the legal assignment to building project coordination systems that prevent chaos. They will leave knowing how to use the book as a catalyst for a new professional path.
